More effective than CBD and still legal - that's HHC. Find out everything you need to know about the new cannabinoid that takes the classic smoking experience to a new dimension.
What is HHC?
Hexahydrocannabinol (HHC) is a cannabinoid that occurs naturally but only in very low concentrations in hempseeds and pollen occurs. This is a THC-derivative and is therefore very similar to THC in its effect. HHC was developed in the 40s-produced synthetically for the first time in the USA in the 1940s, but was not used at the time and disappeared from the scene. Only since Kocently has the cannabinoid become commercially available.
Excursus:
- The hemp plant has two species in its botan family: cannabis and marijuana.
- Cannabinoids are molecules extracted from the plant whose therapeutic properties have been proven by numerous scientific studies in recent years.
- Each plant contains more than a hundred different cannabinoids, - the best known are THC, CBD and CBG.
By changing the chemical molecular structure, almost all cannabinoids can be converted into other cannabinoids. Commercial hexahydrocannabinol is produced in a laboratory using chemical processes from CBD extracted from hemp, just like delta-8-THC and delta-10-THC. This is a long and complex process known as isomerization. The end result is an HHC distillate. This distillate is sprayed onto industrial CBD hemp flowers (HHC flowers) or sold as HHC vape liquid and HHC vape oil, for example.
Is HHC legal?
HHC flowers, oil or liquid contain less than 0.2% THC. The legally prescribed THC limit in Germany and the EU is a maximum of 0.2 %. As HHC does not count as a psychoactive substance, it is not subject to the Narcotics Act and is sold exclusively as flavoring and smoking products. Nevertheless, you should not drive a motor vehicle after taking it.
Can HHC be detected in a drug test?
Opinions are divided here. HHC has a similar chemical structure to THC
and is converted into many of the same compounds. Even if drug tests do not look for HHC but only THC substances, it is possible that the user will test positive.
How strong is the effect of HHC and what are the benefits?
Hexahydrocannabinol is a THC derivative and is therefore very similar in effect to THC. The intoxicating feeling can be compared to that of THC, but it does not last as long and makes you feel less drowsy or sleepy. Many users describe it as the ideal relaxation after a long or stressful day. Other benefits that vary from user to user:
- Helps you fall asleep
- Euphoric mood
- Stimulates appetite and digestion
HHC has only been on the market for a few years and not enough conclusive research results are known yet, so it is difficult to make concrete statements about the overall effect on the human organism. However, it is clear that HHC is psychoactive and, like any other psychoactive substance, can have effects such as
- Physical and mental relaxation
- Hallucinations
- Altered perception of time
- Increased heart rate
- Mood swings
The difference between HHC flowers & CBD flowers
CBD is best known for its natural healing properties, which are particularly beneficial for pain management. However, unlike hexahydrocannabinol (HHC) and the illegal THC, cannabidiol (CBD) has no psychoactive effect when consumed. This is why CBD flowers and hemp flowers are particularly suitable as a carrier material for the synthetically obtained HHC.
The right temperature to vape HHC flowers
As already mentioned, HHC flowers are actually hemp CBD flowers to which the HHC distillate has been added. Every user will find out the right temperature for HHC flowers after a few attempts and is usually based on personal reference. The community advises newcomers to use a temperature between 230° and 290° Celsius.
How do you store HHC?
To keep HHC flowers fresh for a long time, they should always be kept dry and protected from light and air. This is best achieved with opaque and airtight packaging. The optimum storage temperature is approx. 18-20°C. HHC should always be kept out of the reach of children.
